Fan Shrimp / Cameroon Shrimp / Atya Gabonensis Medium

£20.00
Only 3 left in stock

The Atya Gabonensis, colloquially known as the Fan Shrimp, is one of the largest growing tropical shrimp available in the hobby. It originates from Cameroon often found in slow flowing rivers and tributaries. These cumbersome crustaceans can live for over 5 years given the correct diet, habitat and water conditions, they are predominantly a filter feeder, using there large maxillipeds to filter there food direct from the water column often invisible to the naked eye. They are an excellent addition to many community tanks given there valuable role at reducing algae, floating detritus and there passive nature. They need to be in a heavily planted tank to feel secure, ideal tank conditions would simulate a flowing river with an area for basking in the flow.

They can reach up to 15CM’s in size so will need an aquarium to match, they WILL NOT grow to there tank size. Our current stock are all around 6-8CM’s.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 24 - 28 Celsius

  • PH: 6.5 - 7.5 PH

  • Carbonate Hardness: 2 - 8 DKH

  • General Hardness: 4 - 8 GDH
