Male Bristlenose Plecos start growing their bristles around 6 month old. The bristles are the main difference between male and females. Males are also typically larger and have spikes on their fins and can grow up to 15cm.

Current size is around 10CM’s, estimate around 2 years old.

They are good in a community tank and peaceful tank mates. They typically scavenge live and frozen food, along with algae wafers. They also need drift wood as a essential part of their diet.

They enjoy planted tanks and lots of swimming room. They need to be in tanks that are 115 liters or above.

Water parameters:

  • Temperature: 23-27 Celsius

  • Hardness: 2 - 30 GDH

  • PH: 6.5 - 7.8
