Most people buy these for their algae eating abilities for this is something that they are very good at. Though technically Japonica Shrimp and Amano Shrimp are the same species, there are a variety of different sub-species, these Japonica are much closer in relation to standard Caridina shrimp, as a result they often have a more pearlescent colouration that is fuller than most standard bred Amano Shrimp.
