Bamboo Rock Shrimp Medium
The Bamboo shrimp is a filter feeder, camouflaged escape artist originally from the Maluku islands in South East Asia. They often come in a variety of colours including brown, beige, red and pink. Good filtration, steady current and clean water are a MUST due to there feeding mechanism. We recommend the use of small powerheads to create a varied water flow, the use of rocks and wood to create a basking area near to an outlet is essential to ensure they can capture the microscopic food they ingest. Like many shrimp they are a sociable crustacean that will benefit best when kept in groups, they can be territorial but are unable to harm each other. The defensiveness often stems from a lack of feeding platforms, to mitigate this, ensure there are multiple high flow area so satisfy every shrimp. They can be housed with other shrimp and small fish but we suggest avoiding fish like Cichlids and loaches as shrimp are easy targets.
Tank requirements:
Strong water flow
Goof filtration with clean water
High flow areas using powerheads, rocks and wood
Best kept in groups, avoid syphoning when shrimp are growing
Water parameters:
Temperature: 23-29 Celsius
Hardness: 6 - 15 GDH
PH: 6.5 - 7.5
KH: 4 - 8 degrees
